NeoCon 2013: Combining Technology and Design Innovation

We were proud and privileged to be the official technology vendor for NeoCon 2013 at Chicago's Merchandise Mart June 10 - 12. What an inspiring three days it was, with the latest in innovative design creating a buzz in the world's greatest city.

More than 50,000 people visited the show, and we were fortunate enough to spend a little time on the floor as well. It's always fascinating to see the reactions of attendees when they come across our computer rentals incorporated into a booth.

Check out the ways these exhibitors are combining innovative design with modern technology to show off their incredible ideas.

Combining Design With Technology at NeoCon 2013

We loved this interactive display from IdeaPaint. Cool way to transform virtually any space in your office into a boundless dry erase surface. The paint is applied with a roller and functions just like a whiteboard - easy to use and clean.

The iPad was everywhere at NeoCon, whether part of displays, on desks for people to test products, or in attendees hands to take photos of the incredible designs. Apparently people are well beyond the point of feeling foolish holding an iPad aloft like a dislodged steering wheel to take a photo.

Ergonomics is on the minds of many companies and designers. As we spend more time staring at screens, it's ever more imperative to have the flexibility to adjust our desks and screens for the best performance and least muscle and eye strain. These swivels are giving people more flexibility than ever (and they're great for working with others at your desk).

Gone are the days of telling people about your product. Now it's all about showing, and interactive displays like this one make that easier than ever.

The ever-changing projections on the walls in this exhibit drew lots of attention (really, even though my photo doesn't show it. Trust me!)

We've seen video walls grow in popularity every year, and NeoCon was no exception. Companies were displaying innovative designs and their uses throughout the show, adding another element to the static displays of their designs.

Salon hair dryer? Egg chair? We're not totally sure, but the design is fascinating and the chair is comfy! The "hood" acts as a great noise reducer as well, something we saw in many designs.

Hmm, maybe one more monitor would do the trick.

We think every designer in the show can relate to this.
